Chris Self

Chris Self is a trial and parole attorney based in Houston, Texas. He began his legal career working on trial-level death penalty litigation and later served as an Assistant Chief in the Felony Trial Division at the Harris County Public Defender's Office.

In both his private practice and for five years as the Director of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law Juvenile Lifers Externship Program, Chris has focused much of his practice on advocating for and securing the release of people who received extreme prison sentences as children for serious charges, including capital murder and murder. Chris also serves as Chief Counsel for Second Look Texas (secondlooktexas.org).
